The city of Salt Lake City, Utah, is home to many beautiful and exciting places. While there are many things to see in the city, these are our favorite photo-worthy spots.

State Capitol Building

The State Capitol Building was constructed between 1868-1886 and was designed by architect William Weeks. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places and the National Registry of Museums in 1978. The building has been renovated several times since its construction but retains its architectural beauty and memorabilia from past presidents such as George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, among others.

Liberty Park

Liberty Park is another excellent spot to view Salt Lake City’s panoramic views and surrounding mountains. It also has a visitor center where you can learn more about this beautiful location. This includes historical facts about how it was founded by Brigham Young and became one of his first settlements in Utah more than 100 years ago after he arrived here with his followers.

The Great Salt Lake

The Great Salt Lake is an inland sea in Utah, notable for its high salinity and clarity. It is also known as America’s Dead Sea, as it was once thought to be the only body of water on earth with a higher concentration of minerals than the Dead Sea. The lake is a saline brine body, so it’s not a lake at all; it’s more like a huge salt flat with a few islands sticking out here and there. But it’s still beautiful and worth seeing.

Oquirrh Mountain Range

This mountain range is located northeast of Salt Lake City in Utah County, just southeast of Draper City and Bountiful. The range includes three peaks over 10,000 feet high (Mount Timpanogos, Mount Nebo, and Little Baldy), making it one of the tallest mountains in Utah and one of the tallest mountains in the lower 48 states! This area has excellent views from its summits, including views into Utah Valley, Salt Lake City, and Tooele Valley South Jordan. You can also hike through forests with alpine flowers.

The Jordan River

The Jordan River flows out of the mountains into the Great Salt Lake and then continues through the valley towards the Pacific Ocean. This river has been used as a transportation route since prehistoric times, making it one of the oldest rivers in America.

Temple Square

Temple Square is located in downtown Salt Lake City at 10 E South Temple between State Street and Main Street (100 S). It was built in 1853 during Brigham Young’s time as President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). Architect Joseph Fennell designed the building with assistance from Thomas Mackay.

The Zoo 

This zoo is known worldwide, and there’s no reason why you should be surprised if someone says they’ve been to the zoo in Salt Lake City. The animals are all well-kept and have different exhibits depending on what type of animal you’re looking for. The grounds are beautiful, and there are plenty of areas where visitors can sit down and relax while overlooking the animals.
